Woodside Priory Boarding School

I couldn’t help but think about the location of Woodside Priory during my visit to the campus. It’s located just north of Silicon Valley in the San Francisco Bay area and a 45-minute drive from downtown San Francisco. The school is set on 60 wooded acres and has a small, tight-knit feel by design. While the campus has a pastoral feel, its close proximity to neighboring Palo Alto gives it many metropolitan advantages and easy access to suburban/urban activities. The buildings are consistent with the wooded environment, with the central administration building and Performing Arts Center looking the most updated. Of course, having the school in such close proximity to a hub of technology and innovation is a great advantage. Yet, the campus and facilities create an non-intimidating and serene environment.

Woodside Priory Boarding School

Woodside Priory is a Catholic, co-ed day school for grades 6-12 and boarding school for grades 9-12, with 371 total students. The school was founded by Benedictine monks and has held on to its strong spiritual values while welcoming people of all faiths. Its core mission is “to assist students in becoming lifelong learners and stewards who will productively serve a world in need of their gifts.” The school emphasizes spiritual growth and development and has a weekly chapel program in its recently expanded chapel. The school also instills a strong culture of innovation, from how the faculty pilot new instructional methods to teaching students creative problem solving skills to fostering sustainability. I think Woodside Priory would be great for boys and girls that are looking for an environment that embraces individuality, with core values focused on the betterment of the students and community.
