Are you considering sending your child to a boarding school in the US?
With US boarding school deadlines almost a year away, it might seem a long way off in the distance, but it’s already time to start getting applications sorted. The application process can seem overwhelming, and we sympathize! After all, we’ve got many, many years of admissions experience under our belt, so we know just how much is involved. So, if you have your eyes set on boarding schools in the US for your child, here’s why it is a good time to schedule a free consultation with Apply Ivy!
We have a deep knowledge of US boarding schools.
At Apply Ivy, we never go in for a cookie-cutter approach. Each student is unique, as is each school! Our deep, first-hand knowledge of the schools you’re considering allows up to help from a few different angles. First of all, is that school the best fit for your child? What can that school uniquely offer them? Maybe you don’t know yet where you’d like your child to attend, and that’s no problem. Together, let’s discuss your child’s strengths, interests, personality, and philosophy so we can identify exactly the right environment for their development.
This knowledge of individual schools also helps our students to articulate through the application process why that school is a good fit for them. Combining this with our unique approach with each of our students gives them the best chance for success in their future US boarding school.
We look at the journey, not just the destination.
We know that schools are looking for driven, passionate, and curious students, and that can’t be achieved overnight. Aside from grades, we look at your child as an individual and identify what strengths we can develop ahead of the admissions process. Perhaps they have an interest in certain activities they could further explore by joining a team or competition.
Summer programs and classes are another way students can dive deeper into their interests. We are currently helping our students identify and apply to meaningful summer activities and programs.
Of course, the real reason an admissions board is always fascinated to hear about these kinds of achievements is that they speak of valuable personal development and character. Through the course of working with our students, we provide guidance on how they can get the most out of their experiences to gain significant accomplishments towards their development while standing out in the application process.
If there’s one thing we know, it’s how to submit an application! From the technical details, what needs to be submitted where and by when, right down to the individual nuances, what kind of minor details will admissions boards at each school be looking out for. Working with Apply Ivy takes the stress and guesswork out of your application process. We’ll be there to coach you through the process and make sure you’re on track, every step of the way.
We have a deep familiarity with American culture.
And we’re not just talking hotdogs and baseball! Studying abroad doesn’t just mean an exciting new academic education, it’s a cultural education too. The way you approach admissions in the US is not the same as you’d approach it here in Hong Kong, because quite frankly, the cultural values are not the same! We know what really matters when it comes to bringing your child up to speed with the American culture, meaning we can offer not only a smoother admissions journey but a smoother transition once they touch down on American soil.
We offer specialist interview preparation.
Most children (and a lot of adults to be quite honest!) don’t have good interview techniques. That’s hardly a surprise, it’s not something we’re usually taught! Interviewing is a skill, and like all skills, it takes practice. Our interview prep is well-known and well-regarded amongst our clients. We focus on everything from shaking hands, elocution, charisma, etiquette, deportment, and everything that adds up to a confident and engaging interview. It goes without saying, this isn’t just setting your child up to wow school boards, they’ll wow potential employers in years to come too.
We’re currently enrolling students for the class of 2022 and 2023.
